Cable Curl

The cable curl stands you facing a low pulley, elbows pinned to your sides, curling the handle up to shoulder height. The cable keeps tension on the biceps through the whole range, including the bottom where a dumbbell or barbell would go slack. Beginners use it in the gym, for weight and reps as a main lift or a finisher.

How to

- Curl the handle to shoulder height.
- Lower slowly, keeping cable tension the whole way.
Form cues
- Exhale as you curl the handle up.
- Curl without swinging your shoulders back.
- Keep your wrists straight, not bent back.
Common mistakes
- Elbows drift forward as you curl. Keep your elbows fixed at your sides.
- Shoulders swing to help lift the weight. Keep your torso still and curl with your arms.
