The SkiErg has you grip the handles overhead and drive them down by hinging at the hips and pulling with your lats and abs until your hands pass your hips. Repeating the pull in rhythm trains the lats, triceps and abs as a standing, full-body pulling motion. Intermediate athletes use it in the gym, in cardio work or hybrid race training for distance, as a main piece or finisher.

How to
- Stand tall and grip the handles overhead.
- Drive the handles down with lats and abs, hinging at the hips.
- Finish with your hands past your hips.
- Rise back up smoothly and repeat in rhythm.
Form cues
- Brace your abs before each pull begins.
- Bend your knees slightly as you finish low.
- Exhale sharply as your hands pass your hips.
Common mistakes
- Arms yank the handles without hip hinge. Send your hips back before pulling with your arms.
- Lower back rounds hard on every pull. Hinge from your hips, not your lower back.
- Standing too far turns pulls into arm curls. Stand close enough to pull straight down.
