The clap push-up presses you off the floor with enough force to clap your hands in the air before landing back in a push-up position. It trains the chest, triceps and front delts through explosive power rather than a controlled tempo. Advanced trainees use it at home or in calisthenics training for reps as a main lift or finisher.

How to
- Set up in a strong push-up position.
- Lower your chest, then press up explosively.
- Clap your hands while airborne.
- Land softly on your hands and flow into the next rep.
Form cues
- Land with soft elbows, not locked out.
- Bring hands back under your shoulders each landing.
- Exhale sharply as you press off the floor.
Common mistakes
- Hands land wide, away from the shoulders. Reset your hands under your shoulders each rep.
- Elbows lock stiff on landing. Bend your elbows softly to absorb the landing.
- Hips sag once fatigue sets in. Keep your body rigid from head to heels.
