Assisted Dip Machine

The assisted dip machine uses a counterweight to support part of your bodyweight while you press your body up from a bent-arm dip. It trains the triceps and chest through the same range as a full bodyweight dip, tracked by weight and reps. It is a gym machine suited to beginners still building enough pressing strength for dips.

How to
- Set the assist weight and kneel or stand on the platform.
- Grip the handles, elbows straight, chest slightly forward.
- Lower until your upper arms are about parallel to the floor.
- Press back up to straight arms without locking out hard.
Form cues
- Lean your chest forward slightly through the whole rep.
- Press the pad down evenly through both knees or feet.
- Exhale as you press your body back up.
Common mistakes
- Elbows flare wide instead of staying back. Keep your elbows tracking backward, close to the torso.
- Reps bounce at the bottom of the dip. Pause briefly at the bottom before pressing up.
- Body swings instead of pressing straight up. Keep your torso still and press vertically.
