Flutter Kicks
- Beginner
- Home
Flutter kicks are performed lying on your back with your legs extended and hands tucked under your hips. Small, quick up-and-down pulses keep tension on the abs while your lower back stays pressed to the floor. Beginners use it at home as a warmup, a main set or a finisher, for a set time.

How to
- Lie on your back, legs extended, hands under your hips.
- Lift both legs slightly off the floor.
- Kick your legs up and down in small, quick pulses.
- Keep your lower back pressed down for the planned time.
Form cues
- Point your toes and keep your legs long.
- Breathe steadily instead of holding your breath.
- Keep the kicks small, from your hips, not knees.
Common mistakes
- Lower back lifts off the floor. Press your spine down and lift your legs lower.
- Legs rise too high, easing the effort. Keep your legs low, just above the floor.
- Breath gets held through the whole set. Breathe in a steady rhythm as you kick.
