The diamond push-up forms a diamond with your thumbs and index fingers under your chest, elbows tucked as you lower and press back up. The narrow hand position emphasizes the triceps while still working the chest. Intermediate lifters use it at home or in calisthenics training, for reps as a main exercise or a finisher.

How to
- Form a diamond with your thumbs and index fingers under your chest.
- Keep your body in one straight line.
- Lower your chest to your hands, elbows tucked.
- Press back up until your arms are straight.
Form cues
- Exhale firmly as you press back up.
- Keep your gaze slightly ahead of your hands.
- Press evenly through your whole palm, not just fingers.
Common mistakes
- Elbows flare out wide instead of tucked. Keep your elbows brushing your ribs on the way down.
- Wrists bend back sharply under the chest. Keep your wrists stacked under your palms.
- Hips sag below the shoulder line. Squeeze your glutes to hold one straight line.
