Side Leg Pull
- Pro
- Intermediate
- Pilates
The side leg pull lifts your hips into a side plank, propped on one hand with your legs stacked and extended, then raises the top leg and lowers it with control. It works the obliques, glutes and abs together through a held, one-sided position. This Pilates flow suits intermediate training as a warmup, cooldown or recovery piece, worked one side at a time.

How to
- Sit side-on, supported on one hand, legs extended stacked.
- Lift your hips into a side plank.
- Raise the top leg up, then lower it with control.
- Finish the set, then switch sides.
Form cues
- Stack your shoulder directly above your supporting wrist.
- Keep your hips stacked, not rolled forward.
- Exhale as the top leg lifts up.
Common mistakes
- Hips sink toward the floor mid-set. Press your hips up and hold them high.
- Supporting elbow drifts out to the side. Stack your wrist directly under your shoulder.
- Top leg swings forward instead of lifting straight. Lift the leg in line with your hip.
