Machine Lateral Raise
- Beginner
- Gym
The machine lateral raise seats you with your arms against pads, elbows slightly bent, and your back braced on the rest. Raising your arms out to shoulder height isolates the side delts on a fixed arc, rather than a dumbbell or cable's free path. Beginners use it in the gym for weight and reps, as a main lift or a finisher.

How to
- Sit with your arms against the pads, elbows slightly bent.
- Keep your back on the rest and core braced.
- Raise your arms out to shoulder height.
- Lower slowly, resisting the stack.
Form cues
- Exhale as you raise your arms out.
- Feel the effort along the side of your shoulder.
- Lead with your elbows, not your hands.
Common mistakes
