Double Leg Stretch
- Intermediate
- Pilates
Double leg stretch is a pilates exercise that starts curled on your back, head and shoulders lifted, knees to chest. You reach your arms overhead and legs out straight together, then circle back in to hug your knees. It trains the abs through reps, and intermediate practitioners use it as a warmup, cooldown or recovery flow.

How to
- Lie on your back, knees to chest, head and shoulders lifted.
- Extend your arms overhead and legs out together.
- Hold the reach, lower back pressed down.
- Circle your arms around and hug your knees back in.
Form cues
- Exhale fully as you circle your arms back.
- Move with control, not momentum, on the reach.
- Keep your gaze lifted, chin off your chest.
Common mistakes
- Chin juts forward, pulling the neck up. Keep length in your neck, chin tucked slightly.
- Legs drop low and the back arches. Lower legs only as far as your back stays flat.
- Arms and legs stop short of full reach. Extend arms and legs fully in opposite directions.
